Phantom Freq

New transmission incoming. Been locked in the basement for 72 hours with nothing but a four-track and a box of chrome tapes. Something is taking shape. Not ready to call it an album yet -it's more like a signal that won't stop broadcasting.

Rough mix from last night's session. The tape warble on this one is not a mistake -it's the whole point. Feedback welcome, especially from anyone running similar setups.

Found this at a flea market in Bushwick. 1987 Tascam Portastudio 246. The previous owner recorded punk demos on it for a decade. You can feel the history in the signal path. She's coming home with me.

Hot take: the best recordings ever made were accidents. The tape ran out and caught something between songs. The mic was left on. The levels were wrong. Stop trying to make everything perfect. Perfect is the enemy of signal.
